1) STATUTES

International insurance certificate established as per one of the models accepted by the United Nation's European Economic Commission. The green card is for use in several countries and certifies that the holder carries a valid vehicle liability insurance that covers all cases of liability covered by compulsory insurance in the visited country regarding damages to a third party.


2) DESCRIPTION

a) Format

The format of the green card is suggested by the Council of Bureaus and thereafter accepted by the Road Transport Workgroup of the United Nation's European Economic Commission.


Any changes to the Green Card must be pre-approved by the Road Transport Workgroup.
All Green Cards must comply strictly with the agreed format and no other information may appear on the document.

b) Colour

The colour of the document must be green. There are many shades of green and there is no rule as to which green to use as long as the document is perceived blatantly as being green.
The member companies of the Belgian Bureau are however invited to submit the chosen green for approval by the BMIB

c) Language of the document

The green card is a monolingual document. It is written in the language of the Bureau of issue.
For Belgium: in one of the three national languages (i.e. French, Dutch or German)
The title of the document must however appear in the national language, in English– "International Motor Insurance Card" – and in French– "Carte Internationale d'Assurance Automobile".
